The Legacy U8 and U9 girls teams combined to enter 2 teams in the U9 division of Total Soccer's Turkey Shoot, Legacy Red and Legacy White. Both teams won or tied their first 2 games and in their third game they played each other. The game was close but the Red Team pulled out a win in the last seconds of the game.
For the finals, the Legacy Red and White teams met again and after a very spirited game the red team came out on top. Both teams made their coaches proud. Congratulations Ladies!!

U9 Michigan Legacy team for earning MSYSA Soccer Spotlight

Congratulations to the U9 Michigan Legacy team for earning MSYSA Soccer Spotlight Team of the Month honors for September 2011! The team recently finished 8-0-2 in League play (playing up one year), and they played in and won their first tournament (Canton Cup)! Their on-field accomplishments are only outshown by their off-field accomplishments. For two summers now, they have worked at a local Veterans Home doing grounds clean up. Parents, players, and siblings have joined together to till and plant a large garden, weed the flower beds, plant flowers, and trim trees. Also, they participated in the Juvenile Diabetes walk at the GM Tech Center last year and are planning to do it again this Fall. Other future activities include making birthday cards for overseas soldiers and working at a local food pantry. GREAT Job Ladies - Keep the Good Work!

Polish Army Veterans Home - Sterling Hts

Thanks and blessings to all of you that came out to help with the Vets Home cleanup. We had 28 people come out to help at some point during the 4 days it took to complete the job, for a total of 96 man (and kid) hours. Wow! We pruned trees, pulled weeds, edged and weed-whacked, cleared and turned a huge garden, trimmed shrubs, thinned and relocated lilies, hostas and ferns and much more. Then we planted new flowers and a wonderful vegetable garden. The place looks so much more inviting and homey.

Again, thanks to all who came and helped in any way. Several of you mentioned that you wanted to come but weren't able to and would like to contribute financially. We would be happy to accept any donations. Anything collected above our costs will be donated directly to the home. So if you are thinking of making a donation, please respond to this email and let us know. (Also, if you'd like a receipt for your donation, the home is non-profit and will provide that).

We are also going to throw a party for the men on Tuesday night, with cake and ice cream and a festive atmosphere. So any of you that helped in any way, whether with your time or money, we'd like you to join us at the home between 6 and 6:30. (We're going to serve at 6:30). Since it's to honor the Veterans, and it's Flag Day, please show your spirit by wearing your colors: Red, White and Blue or a patriotic tee. Let's make it a really special event.

Thanks to Claudia & Paul Zernec for coordinating this event.

The Legacy Boys U13 are finalists in the FRIGID Earlybird Invitational Tournament near Columbus, OH.
During the four games played in wind chill temperatures ranging from 8° to 20°, the boys managed to win 3 games, and lost one, to the eventual champions. Their final game was the warmest, and proved to be the highest scoring as they pulled away with a 7-1 victory, and that lone goal by the opponent was scored during the last seconds of play. Way to stay tough through those bone chilling temps, boys!

Ramblers on a Roll - October 2009
Fraser soccer team picking up steam into second half
By Jon Malavolti - C & G Sports Writer

FRASER — The Fraser High soccer team is exactly where it wants to be at the midpoint of the season — on a roll. After dropping a Sept. 14 road game at division-leader Romeo High 5-0, the Ramblers returned to what they do best. The team reverted back to its strength — focusing on playing solid defense — and racked up two straight wins followed by two ties against tough competition in the Macomb Area Conference White Division. “We’ve been more successful with that,” first-year Fraser coach Tim Kick said, referring to the defensive style. “With the way we’re playing right now, I think we can compete against any team in the White Division and have success.” The team struggled at first, as it worked to mesh and adopt Kick’s coaching style and philosophies. But things have been clicking lately.

“We started out in our non-conference games learning the team, the players and what kind of system we were going to play, so we had a lot of adjustments,” the coach said. “Every game we play we seem to get better and better.” “We’ve been playing our hearts out. We started out slow, but … since we’ve been playing real tough,” senior goalkeeper Nino Tannahill said. “We seem like a tough team to beat now.” And the timing couldn’t have been better for the Ramblers, as they’re still in the thick of things in the MAC White title race. Fraser (2-2-2 in the division, 2-5-3 overall, at press time) was tied for fourth in the competitive, balanced division.
“We’ve really picked it up as the division season came, so we want to just keep it up and play our best,” senior Cale Burke said.
Six out of the division’s seven teams still had a reasonable shot of taking the title at press time. “Everybody’s good this year; it’s a battle every time — just all out war,” senior Sean Mok said. “It’s pretty hard, but our team, if we keep playing the way we’ve been playing, we’ll do fine,” senior Adam Burton added. “Most teams are pretty good. There are no really weak teams in the league.”
Whether they finish on top of the division standings or not, the Ramblers know they’re benefiting from playing in the tough MAC White when the district playoffs begin Oct. 19. “It helps us a lot,” senior Brian Amann said. “Every game we’ve played has been real close. It’s been preparing us real well.” The Ramblers will advance as far as their sturdy defense can lead them in the postseason.
“Our defense is really strong,” Kick said. And it all starts, and ends, with Tannahill in net. “He’s been standing tall, very tall,” Kick said of his goalkeeper. “We’ve had a great performance out of him.” The coach also praised the defenders and the defensive-based midfielders — Burton, Burke, senior Mike Girard, juniors Corey Foster and Dean Williams, and sophomore Keith Swistock — who man the area in front of the net. “They’re really solid; they’re organized,” Kick said. “They put a lot of high pressure on the attacking team.”
Mok, meanwhile, is the team’s go-to threat on offense, leading Fraser with five goals at press time. “He’s a really big weapon up there, reads the game well and has a great nose for the net,” Kick said. After playing eight of their first 10 games on the road, the Ramblers are scheduled to return to Fraser to finish out the year with seven consecutive home games before wrapping up the regular season Oct. 14 at Royal Oak.

Catch the team in action when they host division foe St. Clair Shores Lakeview at 4 p.m. Oct. 2.

Michigan Legacy FC - September 2009
MI Legacy FC U11 Girls won the Force FC Invitational (Silver Division) over Labor Day weekend.
Congratulations to the U11 Girls (Michigan Legacy 99) for being crowned silver division Champions of the 2009 Force Football Club Invitational.

The girls were playing in their first competitive games as members of the Legacy club. They opened their first day of action with a 3-0 win over the OSC Wildcats. They followed that up with 4-1 victory over the Bloomfield Force which guaranteed their position in the Championship game.

The second day opened with a 2-1 victory over the Novi Jaguars. The girls were then in the finals as the top seed and had to again play the Bloomfield Force. Always a difficult task in beating the same team twice in such a short period of time but the girls battled for the entire 60 minutes, showed a tremendous amount of heart and pulled out a hard fought 1-0 victory. The girls played extremely well throughout the weekend. Their hustle, determination, teamwork and tenacious defense were trademarks throughout the tournament.

Great job girls, we are extremely proud of you!

Tournament Finalist U -13 Boys - June 1, 2009
The under 13 Boys team coached by Tim Kick and managed by Bridget Messner also enjoyed watching their team have a successful weekend of soccer. Unfortunately this team finished second again and as quoted by Mr. Kelly “always a brides maid never a bride” but with all joking aside the boys played fantastic this past weekend. With their only loss of the tournament to the championship team, the boys played with the greatest of passion, work ethic and a desire to perform above the rest.

A special congratulations goes out to the following players Alec, Azie, Andrew, Spencer for being selected as the fair play / sportsmanship recipient.

Congratulations to all the players of U/13 Boys State Premier team for great weekend of soccer.

Thanks

Coach Tim

Tournament Finalist U- 11 Boys - June 1, 2009
The under 11 boys team (Silver) coached by Mike Tanner and Larry Campbell competed in their first out of state soccer tournament. This team had a very successful weekend, with a record of 3 wins, 1 tie and no losses only to finish second to the Ohio team with same record. The tiebreaker to determine who would be awarded first place was by a 2-goal differential.

Although the Legacy boys were very disappointed with as second place finish, the coaches and their families were very proud of the boys working so hard with only one substitution.

Thanks

Mike Tanner and Larry Campbell

Congrats to U- 11 Girls! - May 26, 2009
Congratulations to the Michigan Legacy FC U-11 Girls 98 soccer team for taking the championship at the 2009 Starburst Spectacular Tournament in Columbus Ohio.

The day began with a very tough game against Dublin Celtic Pride that wasn't decided until late in the game when the girls finished with a 3-1 victory. The day did not get any easier with our second game against Worthington Crew Jrs Select in which the girls prevailed with a 5-3 victory to move them to 2-0 going into Sunday's first match.

On Sunday the girls faced a very talented Classics FC Elite team and battled to a 1-1 tie to move them into the championship game.

The championship game was everything a fan could ever hope to see with the team trading goals into the final minutes of the game when the Michigan Legacy FC U-11 Girls 98 scored to win the championship by a 3-2 tally. We could not have been able to accomplish this without the commitment of the girls and the support of our wonderful parents.
I hope everybody enjoyed the weekend as much as I did being able to coach these terrific young ladies.

Michigan Legacy FC – September 8, 2008

Congratulations to the U/11 Legacy FC Girls, for being crowned this year’s champions at the 2008 Petoskey Autumn Blast. The girls started the tournament with a very well played game against a good team Clarkston Shadows, which we won 2-0. Are second and third game's were a little easier with 2 win's of 8-1 and 8-0 to put us in the final's. The finals would challenge the girls to play against a very competitive team from Grosse Pointe MI, GPSA Breaker's. The Legacy girls played unbelievable, the girls played with such passion, skill and teamwork that eventually awarded them the championship game with a 1 – 0 final score.

I would also like to thank the entire parent's who make this possible, hope you had as much fun as the girl's and I had this past weekend.

Coach Mike Tanner & Coach Larry Campbell

Michigan Legacy FC – August 24, 2008

Congratulations to Andrew Messner aka; Rambo for being selected to the boys ‘96’ Olympic Development Program team. Andrew had to compete amongst ninety other players over two days to make the final roster of thirty players selected for this year’s program.

Players were selected from an open tryout. The tryouts are conducted by state association coaches who are recognized for their ability to identify and train players with superior skills. Players must tryout each year. Selection of these players is not an easy task. The state association Head Coach or State Coach will, in most cases, be assisted in the selection process by several other qualified coaches from college, club or league level. Players are evaluated on the four components considered to identify a skilled soccer player:

- technique
- tactics
- fitness and athletic ability
- psychological component (attitude)

On behalf of the Michigan Legacy FC, families, coaches, and your teammates, we are very proud of your accomplishment.

Coach Tim Kick

New Coach
The Michigan Legacy FC would like to extend a warm welcome to Coach Tony Rosales. Coach Tony will be coaching our new U11 boy’s and U/11 girl’s teams from Sterling Heights and surrounding communities.

In addition to Tony’s coaching responsibility, he will be the Director of the Legacy Soccer Academy. Tony, with the assistance of the Michigan Legacy FC coaches, will be responsible for player development for soccer players 4 thru 8 years old.

Coach Tony began his soccer experience by playing soccer for the Shelby Utica Soccer Association (S.U.S.A.) where he played for many years before retiring from competitive soccer and turning his attention to coaching. He has 7 years experience coaching club soccer and is a USSF “D” Licensed Coach. Coach Tony lives in Sterling Heights with his wife and four children. Coach Tony has also volunteered his time for the past 7 years through Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation Department coaching programs in Baseball, Basketball and Football.

On behalf of the Michigan Legacy FC, we wish the coaches, manager, players, and their families a great upcoming year of soccer.

Thank You,

Tim Kick
